Description
Each order of seeds contains at least 10 seeds.
The male parent is UCR347-1, a persistent green to yellow colored fig.
The female parent is Jolly Tiger, is famous for its variegated (multi-colored) leaves this variety is thought to be a sport from a Japanese commercial variety. The figs are sometimes striped when green and darken when ripe. The fruit has a light, sweet, melon taste. Branches will sometimes loose the variegation and should be pruned to maintain a variegated tree.
I have grown several variegated varieties from the Jolly Tiger seeds. They are rare, but have six that I am currently growing out from my first year of starting seeds.
Pictures are of the parent varieties.
All fig seedlings are unique and may or may not inherit the traits of their parents. These controlled crosses give you the best chance of producing high quality new varieties, but do not guarantee it. See our article on growing fig seeds for more information. To learn more about the controlled cross process see our article on hand pollination.
